Random-ness!
So I decided to throw caution to the wind and ignore the impulse to re-post (as my friend Mel did and I considered seriously). I sit here clickety-clacking and don’t have a clue where this is going. So let’s get going…
Randomness can be equated with spontaneity, which I am a big fan of, but when does randomness become intent? If I am to live my life with intent and expectation for and of goodness, then is it really random? Questions, questions…
Okay, so let’s not delve too deep here or the whole random-ness of this post will be lost. Stick with me here, friends. This will be short…
Let’s just say that I am about fed up with people who cannot, and WILL NOT, live a purposeful life. And by purposeful I mean to not only just live life on purpose, but let things happen. Floundering around in day to day routines and thinking the likes that this is all there is to life is a sheer cop-out. Talking and dreaming are great, but if nothing is done towards the end game, then it’s just bullshit! And what about taking chances? If things don’t work one way, you’ve got to move on and try another. Staying stuck on a boat that is sinking is just plain stupid.
Then there are those that pick the wrong life boat to jump into. They lose everything that could bring the brightest future, abandoning the ship that is going to sail around the world and find treasures.
Being random, I think, means taking chances…picking an unknown, un-traveled path and following it… You can’t fear the unknown nor resort to letting opportunities pass you by for the sake of boring securities of the moment.
I like to compare my present life as spinning the wheel of Twister. You never know what color
it will land on. The randomness of its colored outcome means getting tangled in positions that seem unlikely to lead to anything but a twisted ankle or an ass stuck in your face.
But even this can be quite fun and invigorating! Who knows?
Choosing a random life might lead to experiences that I’ve waited way too long for.
Or that ass in my face may lead to some interesting and random acts.

It can be a slippery slope when it comes to taking chances. The thing is, until you take the chance, you don’t know how it’s going to turn out. Could be the best or the worst decision of your life. I guess you just have to examine your options from all angles, cross your fingers and then JUMP!
And jump is right! Not gonna find me on the sinking ship, Nicky!
You have NO idea how much I needed to read your post. PERFECT timing. I need to break out my Twister game and give it a shot. NOW!
Katherine, I’m glad it helped! And let me know what random places/positions you end up in…and did they lead to other random acts?
In a completely interdependent world, taking a chance for one’s self, must affect everyone else, yes…?
But since we can not see nor comprehend the consequences to the 8 Billion other people who are involved in the chances we take, we should probably just focus on how our chances will affect those within our reach.
Ah, Roy! to the deeper meanings of my post that were not intended, but probably reside within.
It was my lame attempt to deal with a situation that was thrust upon me without my want, though it was needed, and focus on the numerous choices and opportunities that I now have.
And the last sentence reference to sex has been lost on most of my readers;D
Not missed, overlooked

Yay! Thank you for reposting this!
“It means taking a chance, picking an unknown, un-traveled path and following it”.
Ah yes, I loved that sentence.
“If things don’t work one way, you’ve got to move on and try another. Staying stuck on a boat that is sinking is just plain stupid.”
You have NO IDEA how much I needed to hear THAT today.
THANK YOU.

You’re welcome, Mel! It kinda fits a lot of situations.
BTW, since you didn’t give me an idea to shoot out my ass that day, this came out instead. Not a repost, but I’ll probably use it for one in the future;)

I can say that this is one of the best post I have ever read from your blog Lisa. The other one is ‘Got Nothing’ that was last September. I agree that randomness in life will lead us to more experiences where we can learn from.
haha.. It’s quite funny how you compare your present life to Twister. But you are exactly right on that. We will never know what color we would land to. A random life can lead us to experiences that we have waited for too long. And whatever would that be, of course it is fun, just like twister.
I’ve always believed that since we don’t get out of this world alive it is best to take as many chances as possible. I’ve failed more times than I have succeeded but each time I have learned something wonderful.
