You Don’t Have to Get Shot Up!

Posted by Lisa on March 11, 2010 in Lisa Stuff |

Don’t let anyone fool, SCARE, you into believing you have to get yourself or your children vaccinated. I know this is a touchy subject for some who believe life will end if they don’t get all the shots that are recommended.

This includes the latest vaccine for the latest flu or other animal that is going to make us sick and die! And for God’s sake, don’t be jumping on the bandwagon every time a government official or news media shouts ‘to save the children’.

Do I think all vaccines are bad? Yes! Do a bit of research and look at the repercussions that countless children have endured due to being vaccinated as ordered and scheduled by their doctors.

Before believing everything you hear or see on the telly or radio make sure you are armed with some facts that may prevent many instances of unnecessary illness and death.

And yes, these facts will actually out weigh the supposed likelihood of getting the disease or illness it tout’s to prevent. Everyone is entitled to his/her beliefs, values and views. This is mine. Don’t get those damn shots!

My lawyer-friend Alan Phillips is an activist and supporter of just such views. He helped me to avoid having to get additional vaccinations, as an adult of 45, when I returned to University studies a couple years back.

I know…I know! As a parent you may be thinking of the ramifications from the state. And thought of legal and social issues can be frightening. Just make sure you understand there are real legal exemptions to mandated childhood vaccines.

However, without proper knowledge in these areas of exemptions you may find yourself in more trouble than not. Being forbidden by a school to enroll or not getting hired because of refusal to be vaccinated are just a few problems you might incur.

And this is not even bringing up this issues of extreme ignorance that can turn hostile against those withholding vaccinations from themselves or their children.

Alan has finally come out with a book that covers all these issues. The information he provides are factual, legal rights that you have as someone not wanting to pump all that poison into your child, or yourself as was my case a couple years back.

You have rights and I suggest you utilize them before they are all taken away.

Personally, I couldn’t care less what the state thinks. I am the one to decide when it comes to my children’s health. Not the state and not pressure from anyone around us. That’s why we never got our boys circumcised (trust me, we’ve had to deal with a lot of pressure with that one, here in Israel).

After doing a lot of research we chose to get our kids vaccinated with most, not all, of the recommended vaccines. Not out of fear of ramifications, but out of the knowledge that we are giving them a much better chance at not getting some of the nastier diseases out there. Obviously, not everyone shares our decision. All the more reason for us to do it – because with too many kids out there who are not vaccinated, the chance of an outbreak gets much higher.

It is a personal decision and choice, Anne. This is what I keep trying to get across to those here in the U.S. but most people CHOOSE to blindly follow whatever they are told is the truth without bothering to think first.

It may not be practical for many to enlist the services of an attorney — more articles like yours are needed to enlighten those who are lead to believe that they “must” follow certain guidelines set by bureaucracy. Research, resources and sharing stories are vital — it’s wonderful you’re sharing Alan’s book.

My kids are all vaccinated… that’s for sure. BUT… when it came to the h1n1, I was hesitant. My work REQUIRED I get it – a children’s hospital – “for the kids” – but the way they put it was not “please do this for the kids” but “you will do this for the kids – it is mandatory.” I was NOT first in line. I ended up with the flu mist and was OK… but some people didn’t get it and had to sign a waiver, were unable to go to certain parts of the hospital, etc. Now, if my child had a serious disease and was in the hospital, I would be grateful that everyone there taking care of him or her were vaccinated. BUT… it was scary getting it. However, “I needed my job!”

And in reply to your questions… :) :) :) My mom has a house in Corolla, Section H. She continued to rent it after Dad died, but then two years ago realized it was just too much work – so she found a way to swing not renting it…. so in the summer we are there pretty much EVERY weekend. I am SO BLESSED to have that house there… something I could never afford in my lifetime. It isn’t fancy – not a McMansion like the ones around us. Saturdays are the BEST when it is rental turnaround – we have the beach to ourselves. Then we stay a week usually fourth of July – but this year it will be either the week b/4 or the week after b/c of scout camp. I am not happy unless I’m on the beach!!! :)

      Katherine,

It is a shame that most people don’t understand they do have a choice and that’s what it’s all about.

Glad mom kept the house for the family, lucky you! ;)

I think some of the vaccines for babies are really important. Lots of side effects though on many of the newer ones. Today, I don’t even get a flu shot.

As long as it is an informed decision regarding the children, that is what is important. Knowing possible repercussions of any vaccine is a priority. But Flu shots are a bunch of bunk!

  • Whether you want yourself vaccinated or not, I believe it is your personal decision. Decisions are hard to make, I know, especially if the vaccine is your ticket to land or secure a job, but as what Liza said, you have you rights. It’s time to know them now.

  • If one thinks of it blindly, he could only surmise that having a vaccine forced by the government or an institution is an outright attack against his right of freewill. But one also have to check the advantages and the disadvantages. I might say that it’s better to be vaccinated when we’re babies because I know the effects would be long-lasting. Most of all, do some research on the vaccine to know its side effects.
